Real Madrid Defender Pepe Stunned By Penalty Decision In Milan Clash

Pepe has admitted that he was stunned when a penalty was awarded against him for handball in Real Madrid's draw against Milan at San Siro on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilian-born Portugal international felt that Los Merengues could have taken all three points and did not understand how the referee gave the hosts a spot-kick.

Karim Benzema put Madrid ahead just before the half-hour mark, but just six minutes later Ronaldinho converted a penalty after Gianluca Zambrotta's cross hit Pepe's arm.

"The penalty was strange. It is hard to see that the ball actually hit my back," the defender was quoted as saying by Madrid's official website.

Pepe was unhappy that the Blancos were unable to avenge their reverse against Milan two weeks ago and felt that they had done enough to take home all three points.

"We came here to win and I believed we played a great match and therefore deserved more," he continued.

"We played a high quality game, but the penalty affected the match. We are sad because we deserved much more."
