Real Madrid could sell one of two key midfield stars for €80-100 million

It is no secret that Real Madrid are willing to go all out for Kylian Mbappe.

The French superstar’s arrival is the ultimate objective for Florentino Perez, and the club president would seemingly go to any extent to secure the operation.

According to reports from Juan Ignacio G-Ochoa on Radio MARCA, there could be a big direct price for Los Blancos to pay on that front. In what comes as a surprising revelation, the journalist states that Real Madrid could sell either Federico Valverde or Aurelien Tchouameni to facilitate the dream transfer.

The objective is to recoup at least €80 million to €100 million from the sale of one of the two aforementioned players so as to invest big in the PSG star. With the midfield now looking to have surplus resources, Valverde and Tchouameni could end up being sold if a good offer comes along.

Both players have been the target of constant proposals from across Europe in recent weeks. So far, however, the need to sell one of them did not arise.

Chelsea have repeatedly shown interest in Valverde’s profile, but the player has not entertained any such approaches in the past. The Uruguayan dreams of wearing the captain’s armband one day and is said to be considered an option to play on the right flank for the coming season.

Tchouameni’s future has also been far from secure. The French international saw a steep fall in prominence towards the business end of last season, and rumours of a departure have loomed large.

Yet, reports state that the manager sees Tchouameni as a starter in the coming season. Such is Carlo Ancelotti’s faith in the youngster that he has declared him to be off the transfer market.

It remains to be seen as to which player Los Blancos opt to sacrifice for the greater good. Before that, however, Real Madrid will require Mbappe to make a strong move to push through his transfer to Spain.
