Real Madrid cool Capello push after Ronaldo axe demand

Real Madrid went cold on the idea of bringing Juventus coach Fabio Capello back to the club after the Italian demanded a clearout during talks.
 
AS says two Real intermediaries spoke with Capello about the prospect of returning to the club next season, but the Italian insisted he wouldn't consider moving to Spain unless the board agreed to a clearout - which included the axing of Ronaldo.

Capello wanted Ronaldo, Robert Carlos, Míchel Salgado and Ivan Helguera all moved on. His demands convinced Real's board to drop their interest in the Juve trainer.

A highly-placed source said: "Capello is a good life-guard for a critical situation. But the team has recovered their self-esteem, Lopez Caro is improving things every day and, in addition, we only want offensive football here."

"With Capello, that is almost impossible and we all know this."
