Real Madrid convinced beating Chelsea for Drenthe

Real Madrid are confident of clinching a £7 million deal for Feyenoord wing-back Royston Drenthe.

Feyenoord want a clause inserted in the move which will see Drenthe spend the coming season with them on-loan. But while rivals Chelsea are willing to accommodate the Dutch club, Real won't consider the request as coach Bernd Schuster sees Drenthe as a readymade starter.

Despite the deadlock, Real are convinced they will trump Chelsea for the Holland U21 star.

While speculation persists that Drenthe will duck a move to Real in order to keep himself free for Barcelona, close friends have told AS that he is keen to move to Madrid.
