Real Madrid considering a move for former left-back in the summer

According to Sergio Santos, Real Madrid are exploring a move for Sergio Santos in the next summer transfer window.

The Rayo Vallecano youngster is increasingly becoming a sought-after figure in Spanish football and the move to Santiago Bernabeu could soon be on the horizon.

Real Madrid’s desire to sign Garcia comes in the aftermath of his brilliant performance against the Whites last night. He was even voted as the ‘MVP’ for his performance, as he assisted Santi Comesana for the first goal of the Night.

A left-back by trade, Garcia was on the books of Real Madrid’s youth setup from an early age. He was a part of the club’s U17, U18 and U19 setups before being promoted to RM Castilla in the summer of 2018.

He even featured in 59 matches for RM Castilla, before joining Rayo Vallecano in a €2 million deal last summer. The youngster moved to Vallecas in order to make a breakthrough in professional football.

The decision has paid off quite well, too, with Garcia emerging as one of the rising stars in the team right now. In 13 league matches, he has racked up two assists and has played a key role in the left-back position, showcasing immense technical and athletic qualities.

Real Madrid have been left impressed by Garcia’s rapid rise to prominence. They are considering a summer swoop to bring the youngster back to Santiago Bernabeu, as a potential long-term cover for Ferland Mendy.

Following the departure of Marcelo, the Whites have lacked depth in the position. Hence, the arrival of someone like Fran Garcia could prove to be beneficial in the long run.

Luring the 23-year-old away from Rayo Vallecano will not be a difficult task either as the club reportedly owns 50% of the player’s rights. The player himself might fancy a return to Bernabeu, as he looks to make a breakthrough in the senior setup.
