Real Madrid consider move for Inter Milan's Zanetti

Real Madrid have been linked with Inter Milan wing-back Javier Zanetti.

The Argentina international is being considered by Real as a replacement for Claude Makelele, who is expected to join Chelsea this week.

Real trainer Carlos Queiroz rates Zanetti highly and often discussed the prospect of signing the Argie with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson when working at Old Trafford last season.

Queiroz and Real sports director Jorge Valdano have agreed to attempt to find a new midfield signing before the end of the week.
