Real Madrid coaches excited by Woodgate progress

Real Madrid coaching staff are excited by the progress of defender Jonathan Woodgate.
 
The England international has now completed two training games without any sign of problems over his knee and thigh injuries.

While no-one will officially confirm a comeback date, sources at Real say the Copa del Rey tie on August 31 is being pencilled in as Woodgate's competitive debut.

A Real coach said: "In Brazil it is very common to organise matches against younger players which do not demand as much effort so that the injured players can work and see if they improve."

"Little by little we are going to be raising the level. Woody is passing all the tests without problems."
