Real Madrid coach: Woodgate will prove his worth

Real Madrid coach Mariano Garcia Remon admits he was gutted for Jonathan Woodgate after the England defender suffered a setback on his return from a thigh injury.

"The injury of Woody's was a big worry," said Garcia Remon. "That it happened is a pity because he had five fantastic training days with the group."

"During that time, he demonstrated to me that he has a very good aerial game, he is fast and very strong."

"Of course, we will wait for Woodgate because he is a great centre-half. The best."

He added: "The important thing is that he returns 100 per cent. When he returns, he will show that the club has made an excellent signing. I, of course, am convinced of this."
