Real Madrid coach: Next time I'll let Beckham die!

Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has hit out at home fans after he was booed for substituting David Beckham during Wednesday night's disappointing 1-1 draw with Olympique Lyon.

"People did not understand that Beckham was totally injured and I had to change him," said a flustered Luxemburgo. "People seem think that I do not know football."

"I am not crazy, Beckham was playing very well, the best one in the game, but he was playing with a sore back and people have not understood the change - the next time I will let him die!"

"I did not know that they booed me. I am determined to continue at Madrid, these pitfalls are normal in football."
