Real Madrid coach Luxemburgo wants Sao Paulo's Lugano

Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has identified Sao Paulo defender Diego Lugano as the man he wants to solve his centre-half problems.
 
Luxemburgo will give Jonathan Woodgate as much time as he can to prove his fitness this preseason, but if the England international cannot guarantee he won't break down again the Real coach will move for Lugano.

Uruguay international Lugano has been tracked by Real since the end of last season and is a national team colleague of summer signings Carlos Diogo and Pablo Garcia.

For now, Luxemburgo is prepared to go with Woodgate as his top central defender. But he has also told Real chiefs that Lugano is top of his shopping list should 'Plan B' need to be put into action.
