Real Madrid coach Luxemburgo: I take responsibility for defeat

Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo insists he has no regrets over leaving Ronaldo out of his starting line-up for Saturday's shock defeat by Athletic Bilbao.

Amidst reports that he was frustrated with Ronaldo's attitude in training, Luxemburgo started the Brazilian on the bench for the Bilbao game and only brought him on with Real 2-0 down.

But the Real coach said yesterday: "The Ronaldo decision was mine. I take full responsibility for it. I will never make a selection because of what is said in the press."

"It is my fault and I assume responsibility."

"I am in control of the squad and must make the decisions."
