Real Madrid coach Garcia Remon: I must gain players' confidence

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has assured new trainer Mariano Garcia Remon that he will remain in charge until the end of the season.

Garcia Remon was Jose Antonio Camacho's assistant and replaces his former boss after a dramatic 48 hours.

After Monday's media conference, which was attended by Camacho, Perez, Garcia Remon and sports director Emilio Butragueno, Garcia Remon took his first training session as Real's new coach in the afternoon.

"The reaction of the players has been good," Garcia Remon told AS. "They understand that a change has been made by the club."

"We've all sought a way out of this situation. Now we want to move ahead."

"The president spoke with the players also. He said we must all stay together. The situation is a concern. The players are ready, it's important for everyone to realise the situation is not as bad as many believe."

He added: "I know I must gain the players' trust as head coach. I must have cohesion, endorsement and confidence from them in being their trainer."
