Real Madrid coach facing sack after Guti bust-up

Real Madrid management were ready to sack Paulo Campos on the eve of Sunday's 2-2 draw at Real Sociedad.
 
Campos angered Real chiefs after attacking the professionalism of midfielder Guti, but apologised for his remarks on the morning of the game.

The assistant coach first insisted his quotes had been misinterpreted by the Sunday press. But a recording of the interview showed Campos' comments were genuine.

Luxemburgo ordered his right-hand man to apologise to Guti, which was accepted by the midfielder. However, Campos did not take his place in the dugout on Sunday night and instead took in the game in the directors' box.

"I am calm. I hope that this situation is clarified. Only God knows that I act with my heart and that I never intentionally do anything to harm people," said Campos yesterday.
