Real Madrid coach Camacho: I didn't ask for Owen

Real Madrid coach Jose Antonio Camacho says he did not request the signing of striker Michael Owen from Liverpool.

He told local radio yesterday: "If you look at it thoroughly, our priority should have been a central midfielder. Though, yes, the signings we have made gives us more options than last season."

"I did not ask the president for Owen. Real Madrid is in the market for players who have world-wide stature. The club cannot be closed to anything, as it was with the Owen case."
