Real Madrid coach: Beckham has adapted far better than I imagined

Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz has admitted David Beckham has surprised him by the way he has adapted so well to Spanish football.

"I have been outside my country for nine years and from my own experience of living abroad, I remember how difficult it was - especially my first two years."

"It is the first time that David is living outside his home country. At the moment he is doing it very well, far better, I must say, than what I hoped," Queiroz told the Financial Times.

"He's played the last 16 years on the wing and now he is learning a new position. To adapt his quality to a new position in this team is not easy and it is amazing what he is doing at the moment."
