Real Madrid Coach Ancelotti Has ‘Problem With Mbappe’, Says Ex-Teammate

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has a problem on his hands with the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, according to an ex-teammate of the Frenchman's.

Colombia legend Radamel Falcao played alongside Mbappe at Monaco for two seasons from 2015 to 2017, with their strike partnership terminated once the now-25-year-old snubbed Madrid for the first time and decided to become history's most expensive teenager at PSG.

Mbappe famously turned down Los Blancos in 2022 when he renewed terms at the Parc des Princes while nearing free agency.

In a case of third time lucky, however, President Florentino Perez finally got his Galactico in 2024 and signed the Ballon d'Or hopeful on a five-year contract.

Speaking from a Nike press conference held in his homeland's capital Bogota, Falcao stated that plying his trade at the Bernabeu will bring Mbappe closer to landing football's highest individual honor.

"Surely being there will be closer to winning it," Falcao said, though he noted that deciding where to put Mbappe in a talented attack that just won the treble and doesn't necessarily need tinkering with is a dilemma for Ancelotti."

"The problem is for the coach. Obviously the team has won everything this season, and with the arrival of him they will surely dominate more. If everything is in order and in harmony, they're going to dominate more. It's going to be more difficult for the defenders," Falcao predicted.

Above all, though, Falcao tips Mbappe to do kick on and wished him all the best.

"He has all the ability to succeed and I hope he does well, fulfils his dreams," Falcao said, while also revealing how Mbappe proved to be himself a genius and a difference maker when they played together despite being "very young".

"He generally made very good decisions, which is what makes the difference in the elite. That surprised me at that age," Falcao concluded.

Back to Ancelotti's selection headache, the Italian sticking to the 4-4-2 that worked so well last season will likely see Mbappe partner Vinicius Jr. up front while Rodrygo is confined to the bench and possibly sold at a later date.
