Real Madrid closing in on Roma defender Mexes

Real Madrid are closing in on Roma defender Philippe Mexes.
 
The France international's current contract is inside it's final 18 months and carries a buyout clause of £7.5 million.

Mexes admits his future could lie away from the capital and said last night: "My future? There are many great clubs being mentioned, but before anything they must first speak with Roma."

Real chief Franco Baldini, who was instrumental in signing Mexes for Roma, is urging his board to shell out for the Frenchman.
