Real Madrid chiefs want Sevilla wing-back Puerta

Sevilla wing-back Antonio Puerta is interesting Real Madrid.

Real chiefs are not convinced that Brazilian youngster Marcelo is ready to inherit Roberto Carlos' left-back slot next season and is lining up a senior signing for the summer market.

Real have already held talks with Manchester United defender Gaby Heinze, however Puerta is looming as the more favoured option for sports director Pedja Mijatovic and his No2 Franco Baldini.

Puerta, 22, is already a Spain international and has been influential in Sevilla's European success over the last two seasons.
