Real Madrid chiefs split over Raul lifetime deal

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon's decision to table a 'lifetime' contract to skipper Raul has created a rift with sports director Pedja Mijatovic, it has been revealed.

El Mundo Deportivo says Mijatovic is upset that Calderon has informed Raul's agent, Gines Carvajal, that the new deal will be put together as a matter of urgency. Indeed, negotiations are due to open today.

Mijatovic would prefer the contracts of Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas be addressed before the Real captain's, with his deal still having over two years to run.

Meanwhile, Carvajal confirmed Calderon's offer last night: "He wants to make a contract with Raul which allows him to continue playing for Madrid until he can no longer do so."

"Raul is happy, it is a recognition of his form."
