Real Madrid chiefs concerned with grumpy Schuster

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has recommended coach Bernd Schuster not front for post-match interviews after Saturday's controversy in Seville.

Schuster insists his 'Catalan' remark about referee Alvarez Izquierdo was the "imagination of journalists" which has not gone down well with reporters, including those tied to Madrid's big sports newspapers.

Calderon is concerned with Schuster's manner when dealing with the media, with AS saying his confrontational nature, challenging glances and short answers is turning off journalists and harming Real's image.

The president urged Schuster to take a breather, but the German doesn't want to be seen to be ducking tough questions.

The issue is dragging on, with some Real directors dismayed after Schuster's dig yesterday over the reporting of his 'Catalan' remark.
