Real Madrid chief: We've dropped Chelsea talks to discipline Makelele

Real Madrid sports chief Jorge Valdano has warned Claude Makelele that he is "putting his career in danger" by refusing to train.

Makelele has not fronted for training this week complaining of "anxiety attacks", but speculation in Spain suggests he is waiting for Real to negotiate with Chelsea a deal which will see him move to Stamford Bridge on Monday.

"Makelele has a contract with us and we want that the player performs one's duty," said Valdano

"This is a breach of discipline from the player. If he continues maintaining this position, he will put his career in danger."

He added, "We've heard of the interest of Chelsea. But at no moment has an offer for the player arrived, although yes an approach to negotiate has been made."

"We had decided to discuss Chelsea's bid on Monday. But we have changed our position and instead will initiate a disciplinary investigation into player."
