Real Madrid chief Valdano: Barcelona match unworthy of Spanish game

Real Madrid sports chief Jorge Valdano branded last night's events in Barcelona as "not worthy" of Spanish football.

"To play here is becoming more and more difficult," said Valdano.

"But this is not worthy of Spanish football."

"If one arrives at a stadium and they throw things at you and the game is suspended, it is very difficult to accept," said Valdano.

"Many objects were thrown, not just at Luis Figo, but also at Iker Casillas. This particular game is famous around the world. But tonight's images will be very poor for Spanish football."

"I do not understand the reasons for which we should have to change the player for taking corners. Figo is going to take the corners, that is the normal thing."

"If we must change a player for that…(he shakes his head)."
