Real Madrid chief: No problems with Emerson

Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic says underfire midfielder Emerson maintains the confidence of coach Fabio Capello.

Both Capello and Emerson have denied reports that the player refused to warm-up during last week's match against Bayern Munich, despite images to the contrary appearing in the media.

Asked about the incident, Mijatovic said: "I cannot punish a player by images published. You cannot exactly see what they were talking about, what pact they had before the game. All the information that I have suggests there is no reason for any reaction over this incident."

"Against images and the information from the trainer, I must believe the trainer and the player, who have said that at no moment he refused to play."

Mijatovic added: "Emerson has had enough trouble. He was injured in preseason and this has hurt his form. Like a lot of the players, he performs better away from the Bernabeu."
