Real Madrid chief Mijatovic backs Capello's Beckham blast

Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic has backed coach Fabio Capello's surprise team selection after yesterday's victory over Real Zaragoza.

Capello gambled by playing youngsters Miguel Torres, Gonzalo Higuain and Fernando Gago and was rewarded with a vital three points after a difficult week for the club.

Mijatovic said: "There was too much talk on the players who were out of the team or need to renew their contracts because they end this season, but that is not important now. The fundamental thing is to win and to look after the team."

"I respect the decision of the coach in the case that Beckham will not play anymore. In addition, I believe that the coach has done the right thing by giving opportunities to young players, who have shown great fight in our victory over Zaragoza."
