Real Madrid chief: Marketing policy will land Zidane of 21st century

Real Madrid's new communications director, Antonio Garcia Ferreras, insists the club's galactico transfer policy and eye on marketing is what allows it to remain the world's biggest.

Real Madrid's new communications director, Antonio Garcia Ferreras, insists the club's galactico transfer policy and eye on marketing is what allows it to remain the world's biggest.

"The economic success and our marketing of Madrid is what is going to allow us to sign the Zidane of the 21st century," Ferreras told AS.

"It hasn't been long that Real Madrid is now turning a profit. Within five, ten or twenty years we aim to be making a profit without the help of our real estate operation."

"We will continue attracting strong business partners that will allow us to build the best team we can because the best players in the world will want to play for Madrid."

"All this has been obtained by Florentino Perez over the last four years. What we're now talking about was unthinkable five years ago. It was impossible to think that Zidane and Figo would be playing here!"

Ferreras also revealed that Real were tailoring their approach to individual markets to tap into what he describes as a "500 million" supporter base.

"We have a magazine. The one in Spain is different to South America and Japan. Here (Spain), the cover is Raul. In Japan it is Beckham and South America its Ronaldo. Each version has its own content also."

"Our website will also soon be published in 14 different languages."
