Real Madrid chief: January moves unlikely

Real Madrid sports director Jorge Valdano has again played down the likelihood of buying in January's transfer market.

"We have never worked the winter market and we do not believe that the market offers great opportunities, nor that we need them," he said.

"Only some sort of misfortune would force us to move."

On Real's plans of signing another galactico, Valdano added, "Every season we aim for a great player."

"Of the first eight players in the FIFA prize, five were from Real Madrid. So there's not a lot of room for us to work in."

"In any case, this is not the time to be talking about it. More will come during April."
