Real Madrid chief in talks with Zanetti's agent

Real Madrid have held talks with the representatives of Inter Milan midfielder Javier Zanetti.

Jorge Olive and Jose Osuna both met with Real sports director Emilio Butragueno on Thursday in Madrid. Butragueno was seeking information on Zanetti's situation at Inter, where he is not enjoying his best moments.

Zanetti signed a new contract last season, which ties him to Inter until 2007. But the Argentina international would be allowed to leave Inter for a knockdown fee should a club made a firm approach.

Real are interested in the 31 year-old, but won't go higher than £2 million for his transfer fee.
