Real Madrid chief Butragueno: Ronaldo did not intend to hurt Mtiliga

Real Madrid chief Emilio Butragueno insists Cristiano Ronaldo did not deliberately break Patrick Mtiliga's nose.

Ronaldo was sent off for striking the Malaga defender with a flailing arm in Sunday's 2-0 win.

Butragueno said: "Seeing the play, clearly he does not want to hurt the opponent. I've been a striker and when one wants to catch you, you do these things."

"Everyone at Real supports Ronaldo. We're very happy with him and we're sure he will have a long career here."
