Real Madrid chief: Beckham could be last galactico

Real Madrid sports chief Jorge Valdano has admitted the club may not sign a new galactico next season.

Valdano explained yesterday: "Its possible we won't have a 'crack' next season because there aren't many left. Most 'cracks' are attackers and we are well off in those positions already."

"But I wouldn't completely rule it out. Real's ambition is known to all and we will continue studying the market for players worthy of wearing the white shirt."

Valdano also revealed how happy the club is with the performance of their latest galactico, David Beckham.

"He did not need to open his mouth or make comments on the criticism that was leveled at him in the beginning."

"Everybody thought that we had bought a social model before a footballer, but nevertheless, from the first day he has shown his worth on the pitch."

"The fact that it has always been a dream of his to play for Real has inspired him to greater heights this season."
