Real Madrid carry on winning

Real Madrid can't stop winning as they made it seven on the bounce against Espanyol yesterday.
 
Real were in complete control against poor opposition and with the first chance of the match Guti opened the scoring.

By half time the home team were three up with goals from Zidane and Ronaldo and the Frenchman scored again to make it four early in the second half.

Real move up to second, 10 points behind arch-rivals Barcelona who face a tricky home game on Sunday against an improving Atletico Madrid and without stars Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho.

With Real facing a crowded fixture list with seven games in February, the manager, Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, made changes at the back bringing in Jonathan Woodgate and Alvaro Mejia.

Ronaldo, returning from an injury which had kept him out for a month, scored the third with a well-taken header from a Cicinho cross.

Woodgate nearly made it five with a header in the 64th minute from a David Beckham cross but his effort was cleared off the line.

The England captain was substituted 10 minutes later to a standing ovation from the Bernabeu and things continue to get better for Real who are improving rapidly under their previously-unknown coach Lopez Caro.
