Real Madrid can trump Inter Milan for want-away Roma defender Cristian Chivu.

Fabio Capello's growing influence at Real has seen his No2, Franco Baldini, make contact with Victor Becali, one of Chivu's agents, last week.

Inter president Massimo Moratti held talks with Roma executive director Rosella Sensi over the weekend regarding a price for Chivu, which is likely to include Fabio Grosso and David Pizarro moving to the capital permanently.

However, given Capello and Baldini's history with Roma, Chivu is said to favour a reunion with the pair after making up his mind last week to resist a new contract offer from the Giallorossi.
