Real Madrid boss Schuster happy with Van der Vaart option

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is keen on a deal for Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

AS says Schuster has held a series of meetings with Real president Ramon Calderon and sports director Pedja Mijatovic during their Austria preseason camp.

Schuster has made it clear that if they were to land Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo he would be delighted because the Portuguese "is the best in the world right now," but added that if they could not sign the player, then "I would be pleased with the arrival of Van der Vaart" .
