Real Madrid boss Mourinho: Modric, Essien right signings for this squad

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is pleased with his two midfield additions.

Luka Modric has joined from Tottenham, while Michael Essien is on-loan from Chelsea.

“We've opted for a small squad, but with versatile players who offer the necessary stability," explained Mourinho.

"Modric gives us all this. He's a quality player on a par with the big talents out there. I know Essien well and his experience will serve us well in defense."
