Real Madrid board happy with transfer policy shift

Real Madrid's board were presented with a report yesterday over the change in the club's transfer policy.

The Powerpoint presentation was put together by Real sports director Pedja Mijatovic and presented to directors by Jose Angel Sanchez.

Among key points was the rapid drop in the average of the squad since Ramon Calderon's presidential victory last summer. Real now boast the youngest squad among Spain's major clubs with an average age of 24.8 years. Barcelona [25.8 years], Sevilla [26.6 years] and Valencia [26.7 years] were other clubs mentioned in the report.

"Before, Real Madrid only signed 'name players'," said Calderon. "Now we contract players to form a team. There was a tendency in the past to buy veterans and they were past their best. Guti was right in everything he said."
