Real Madrid, Barcelona interested in 28-year-old Bayern Munich superstar

According to reports from Kerry Hau of SPORT1, Real Madrid, alongside Barcelona, have been interested in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich for a long time now.

The Merengues have constantly had an eye on his situation but a transfer is still a distant dream.

The Bavarians have no intentions of placing Kimmich on the market for any price. The administration see him as an integral part of the squad for the years to come and even as a captain in the near future.

Over the years at Allianz Arena, Kimmich has established himself as a regular starter at the club. Though he began his spell in Germany as a right-back, the gamble to move him to midfield has worked out well for the Bavarians.

However, reports earlier in the day stated that he was unhappy with Julian Nagelsmann’s sacking and the situation in the dressing room. The two factors, reportedly, were pushing him towards an exit from the club, with Barcelona said to be interested.

Now, it is being claimed that Real Madrid, too, have their eyes on the 28-year-old German international.

A player of Kimmich’s quality would slot right into Ancelotti’s setup. However, the club already have the defensive midfield position covered and any new signing would appear surplus.

Eduardo Camavinga’s rise over the months places him as the first-choice starter for the pivot role. Additionally, Toni Kroos sees his future to be in the deeper midfield while Aurelien Tchouameni is another contender for the same position.

Los Blancos are eyeing a triple haul of Jude Bellingham, Alphonso Davies and Kylian Mbappe in June. While pulling off all three signings would be difficult, Kimmich is clearly far from joining Real Madrid considering the club’s already long list of priority targets.

In 31 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich this season, the 28-year-old has scored five goals and provided six assists. He also averages a stunning 2.8 key passes and nine defensive actions per game.
