Real Madrid ask Juventus about £25M Buffon deal

Real Madrid have made an informal approach to Juventus for goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The Italy No1 is regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world and has been a long time target for Real president Florentino Perez.

With current Real keeper Iker Casillas' contract expiring in 2006, Perez is considering a possible replacement for the Spaniard and has asked Juve about a possible £25 million deal for Buffon.

But Juve, through intermediaries, have informed Perez that they regard the offer as falling well short of the true value of Buffon. And are understood to have also insisted that their No1 is not for sale at any price.
