Real Madrid are not hijacking Everton’s Sandro move

Real Madrid are not likely to hijack Everton’s move for Sandro Ramirez despite recent reports.

The Toffees were thought to have met the £5.25m release clause in Ramirez’s Malaga contract ahead of a move this summer.

Personal terms had been agreed, but the striker’s participation for Spain at the Under-21 European Championship has stalled the move somewhat.

There have been a number of erroneous reports stating when Everton would announce the move, with the latest claim being that Ramirez would be declared a new signing after Spain’s semi-final with Italy on Tuesday.

No confirmation was forthcoming however, and reports from Spain emerged on Tuesday stating that Real Madrid could hijack the deal.

Spanish newspaper Marca included Ramirez on a list of five players Los Blancos were keeping a keen eye on at the U21 Euros, alongside the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Dani Ceballos.

But the article was hardly convincing, claiming simply that Ramirez ‘has yet to sign with Everton’ and that he ‘could be available to whoever pays Malaga his release clause’.

Discussing the claims on Tuesday evening, Real president Florentino Perez insisted that it was "the first news I’ve heard of it".
