Real Madrid are making me a better player - Beckham

Real Madrid ace David Beckham says he wants to win the World Player of the Year award.

Beckham, who has finished runner-up twice in the vote, said: "I want to win many trophies with Real Madrid and also with England."

"Personally, I want to win the World Player of the Year award."

"At Real we have the best players in the world, Raul, Luis Figo, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos. That says it all. Real has a presence around the world which is unmatched, not just with this current team, but a club as a whole."

"I think this month is going very, very important. We have big games in all three competitions we are competing in."

On his change from Manchester United to Real, Beckham added, "I have changed my country, my city, my fans and teammates. In addition, in Manchester I played on the right wing and now at Real Madrid, I am in the centre. This change has given a new life to me because I participate more in the game and I enjoy it a lot."

"At Madrid I undergo more pressure now because I am new here, and everybody wants to know what I'm doing."

"But despite that, I am coping very well. I feel alive here."
