Real Madrid are about to steal a much-needed transfer target from PSG

Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Kylian Mbappé from PSG, though Madridistas know better than to believe anything until a move is official, having already been burned badly by the forward in 2022.

However, Real aren’t just pushing hard to sign Mbappé. If anything, they’ve actually been more closely linked to two other players during the 2023/24 season in Bayern Munich star left back Alphonso Davies and Lille center back Leny Yoro.

Left back was a major need from the get-go, but so was center back – and it became a desperate need when David Alaba joined Éder Militão on the injured list with an ACL tear of his own.

Real Madrid elected to pass on a middling option in central defense, instead waiting to sign Yoro, who appears to be their priority transfer target as an 18-year-old center back already outperforming virtually everyone in Ligue 1.

When a Ligue 1 target is concerned, PSG are always close by, and Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna actually reported that Yoro had planned on joining the Parisians in January before changing his mind.

Now that Real Madrid are pushing hard for the young defender, perhaps they are the reason he is changing his mind and will soon make the move to the Santiago Bernabéu to join the more prestigious and successful – in the Champions League – club.

Yoro could follow in the footsteps of Aurélien Tchouaméni, who was a vital player for Monaco at a talent-scarce position in the 6 role. PSG were close to him, he waited for Madrid, and Monaco sold him outside of Ligue 1 to make it happen.

That could the same process for Yoro, as Lille, like Monaco, aspire of knocking the Qatar-backed club off its pedestal in French football. Yoro could be jus the latest player to snub PSG’s money for the allure of the Bernabéu and Real Madrid.
