Real Madrid alerted as Owen puts Liverpool on trial

Michael Owen will demand a move unless Liverpool qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Mirror says with only two years left on his current deal, Owen wants to see Liverpool prove they are capable of challenging for top honours before committing himself to a new, long-term contract.

With Real Madrid and AC Milan already sniffing around, Owen has virtually put Liverpool on trial this season.

Like Real signing David Beckham, Owen is handled by SFX and could follow his England skipper to Spain next year if Liverpool flop.
