Real Madrid alerted as Man Utd's Rio hints at Liga move

Real Madrid and Barcelona have been alerted to Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand's comments that he'd like to play in the La Liga.

Ferdinand said: "You only have to look at last season to admit Spain has got the best league in Europe."

"I would be delighted to go and play abroad. To be honest I would prefer Spain to Italy but that is still some way off. At the moment I am a Manchester United player."
