Real Madrid agree personal terms with Hamburg's Van der Vaart

Real Madrid are closing in on Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

A favourite of Real coach Bernd Schuster, Van der Vaart has already agreed personal terms with Real officials, says Marca.

Real will now seek to finalise a fee with Hamburg over the weekend, though face competition from Atletico Madrid for the Dutchman.

Van der Vaart's agent, Soren Lerby, said: "There are many clubs interested, we are considering offers, but he is on vacation and has not yet decided anything."

"He would like to play in Spain. In a week he will make a decision."
