Real Madrid Ace Mesut Oezil Dismisses Comparisons To Zinedine Zidane

Mesut Oezil has spoken out on recent comparisons with Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane, and believes he still has some way to go to match the achievements of the French World Cup winner.

Los Blancos, and Oezil in particular, have gained praise in recent weeks, particularly in the wake of their 3-1 victory over Racing on Sunday evening.

"I am glad I do well, but I haven't won anything yet," said the German midfielder to AS. "I have come here to evolve, but Zidane was world class and I'm still learning and still have much to prove."

Oezil also spoke of the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed the Racing match due to injury, stating his belief that his teammate is an incredibly important player, but Real Madrid can still survive without him.

He said of the Portuguese: "You could see in the last match that we have a good team and are strong. Ronaldo is a world class player, and he has won many matches for us. Hopefully will recover soon."

On the title race, which sees Madrid trailing seven points behind Barcelona, the young German simply stated: "The season is long, and anything can happen."
