Roberto Carlos joined the long list of injured stars at Real Madrid after a recurring knee injury forced the player out of the Champions League match against Roma at halftime.

Real’s sick bay list already includes Guti, Savio, Flavio Conceicao, Ivan Campo, Karanka, Geremi

Carlos said of the injury: "It is not a serious injury but the doctors have warned me that I need to rest soon. But I can't rest now."

Carlos added: "It really hurts and I don't want to suffer anymore. It makes me lose all my strength in my right leg as that is the one I have to stand on when I use my left foot to shoot."

The player also stated that he would try to play in the upcoming Villarreal game and then travel to Brazil for their World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Venezuela.

"My intention is playing against Villarreal and then travel to join the Brazilian national team to see what Brazilian doctors have to say," he said. "I don't care who cures me -Real Madrid or the national team doctors - but I don't want to suffer anymore."

The world-class defender has been told that he needs to rest for no less than 15 days to allow the injury to heal, but evidently the player has no desire to do so.

Meanwhile, Guti sprained his ankle in training and is listed as doubtful for the Villarreal game.

If both players are absent, coach Vicente Del Bosque will be without seven players for the tie against Villarreal in addition to Fernando Hierro and Claude Makelele, who are both suspended.
