Real in for Quiroga

After a move for Portuguese international Beto failed to materialise, Real Madrid are now believed to have targeted team-mate Facundo Quiroga.

Spanish giants Real were close to signing Sporting star Beto last month but the deal failed to come through, and although Jorge Valdano vowed to return to Portugal to conclude the deal, it is reported that Beto's Sporting colleague Quiroga could be the new target.

However Beto himself is still keen for a deal to go through, stating: "Real Madrid are one of the biggest teams in the world. If they want me, they have to agree terms with me and with Sporting."

"And I know that they talked with my club but not with me. I'm interested in moving to Madrid, but only if they really want me. I'm very calm, here, in Portugal, together with my family and I don't want to think about that now."
