Real favourites for Campbell

Real Madrid look to have the best chance to sign Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Sol Campbell for the new season.

Campbell, who has confirmed he has played his last game for Spurs, was top of Barcelona's wanted list but rivals Real Madrid are in a far better position having guaranteed a place in next year's Champions League. According to reports in England, Real Madrid are planning to swoop for the defender, offering a huge $US 5million salary for each of the five seasons in the deal.

Real's offer would be far superior to those of other clubs interested in signing Campbell, including Manchester United, Inter Milan and Arsenal. But the big question is would Campbell be able to dislodge Real pair Fernando Hierro and Aitor Karanka if he were to join The Madrilenos next season?
