Real eyeing defender raid

Real Madrid are reportedly poised to make Celta Vigo an offer for right-back Juan Velasco.

The Madrilenos have long admired the 24-year-old Sevillano defender, but their interest could be rekindled with the news that the Galician outfit are willing to listen to offers for the player.

Velasco is the second option, if Real fail to land Inter Milan's Javier Zanetti in the summer.

Velasco signed for Celta back in 1999 after spending three seasons with his home team Sevilla.

Real are searching for a replacement for Geremi Fotso and Michel Salgado, neither of whom have excelled at right-back this season.

Also listed is Deportivo's Manuel Pablo, although the operation to bring him to The Bernabeu will not be at all easy.
