Real Defend Hierro After Valladolid Fiasco

Real Madrid have strongly defended their defender and captain Fernando Hierro, who came under fire after Real's draw against Valladolid.

Some critics and fans have blasted Hierro for his role in the weird Valladolid equalizer, in the dying moments of the match at Bernabeu.

"I've heard things about the player and myself that are light years away from the truth" said coach Del Bosque.

"Hierro is a pro, and his attitude has always been excellent at the club".

Del Bosque is confident Real are not out of the title race - yet. With only five points out of five games, the Madrid side is poised to be under increasing pressure to win more of their forthcoming games.

"Last season in December we had a similar case, after all the club managed to become a champion," said Del Bosque.
