Real decide against Ronaldo swoop

The news arrived in rumours in the early hours of this morning, then it was confirmed.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez declared that he will not buy Ronaldo, anticipating in this way the contents of a press-conference that was planned for this afternoon by general director Jorge Valdano in which the Spanish media thought they would announce the signing.

The decision arrived after a last contact between Peres and Ronaldo's agent Alexandre Martins. Now the saga offers new types of solutions: one is called Manchester United.

A few hours after the end of the meeting he had with Inter chief officer Rinaldo Ghelfi yesterday, Ronaldo decided to make a declaration utilizing the Italian page of his personal website, a declaration that doesn't hide his real intention: "I've arrived in Milan and I immediately went to speak with the club. I confirmed my point of view, that is the same as my agent Alexandre Martins had already explained to president Moratti three months ago. I'm sad to see the supporter's reaction even if I understand their disappointment, but I prefer to experience this situation rather than explain publicly the real reasons for my thoughts for a future far from Inter. Who really knows me knows that money isn't the most important thing for me. I'll respect until the last moment the club that was still close to me even during my difficult periods and I'll respect the professional engagement of my contract, as I always did, but I hope that the situation could evolve in a positive way for me and for Inter in the next few days".
