With Real Betis struggling against relegation at present, goalscoring is a major worry. To that end, the Andalucian club is thought to be interested in landing Roberto Soldado (pictured) on loan.

The 22 year old has played just 27 minutes of Liga football all season, with European play seemingly even harder to come by.

The Merengues have denied any intention of selling the Spanish international, but a loan move may suit them heading into January.

He spent last year in Pamplona with Osasuna, scoring 11 Liga goals in 30 appearances, having previously scored twice for the Real Madrid first team.

Before that, he was a prolific goalscorer for Real Madrid Castilla, but it was really his spell at Osasuna that won him plaudits.

Indeed, he signed a contract extension through to 2012 after that loan period, but nonetheless is showing little sign of making that final breakthrough.

Betis, then, are ready to pounce.
